Our pediatric neuropsychological assessments are beneficial for children with a variety of conditions, including: Traumatic Brain Injury (Mild to Severe); Epilepsy; Neurodevelopmental Disorders (e.g., ADHD, Learning Disorder); Cancer/Brain Tumors; Genetic/Chromosomal Disorders; Spina Bifida/Hydrocephalus; Prematurity/Cerebral Palsy’ Stroke; Congenital Heart Disease; and Prenatal Neurotoxin Exposure (e.g., FAS).

Here's what you can expect:

  • Clinical Interview

    We gather detailed background information from parents or caregivers to understand the context of the challenges.

  • Neuropsychological Testing

  • Assessment of Psychological Functioning

    We also screen for co-occurring conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other psychiatric concerns including OCD, or disruptive behavior disorders (e.g., ODD, Conduct Disorder of Adolescence).

  • Collateral Information

    We typically have other providers or school officials complete ratings of psychological and behavioral status to understand your child's functioning in multiple contexts. We also review any available medical, psychological, and educational records.

  • Feedback Session

    We discuss the findings with parents and provide recommendations for interventions, accommodations, and support.

Yes! Dr. Erickson completes independent  outpatient evaluations for learning disabilities as a second opinion from that of the school. Please note that these assessments are not formally covered by insurance.

The evaluation process typically takes several hours spread over one or more sessions, depending on the child's needs and attention span.

 If your child has difficulties completing the testing, we adopt a flexible approach. We focus on the key domains of concern and implement positive reinforcement to encourage participation. We also provide breaks as needed to ensure your child remains comfortable and engaged throughout the process.
